British Divers Marine Life Rescue Partners with Robson & Prescott Vets for Seal Rehabilitation Project
British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) is thrilled to announce a new collaborative project with Robson & Prescott Vets in Morpeth, Northumberland. This partnership aims to enhance the rescue and rehabilitation efforts for seal pups in the area, particularly in light of increasing winter storm activity and a rise in reported seal pup casualties.
Robson & Prescott Vets has been instrumental in supporting BDMLR’s rescue operations over the years, and the establishment of a newly converted stable at their veterinary site will provide a safe and secure environment for the assessment and triage of up to three seal pups at a time. This facility will allow our team to stabilise these animals before they are transported further for full rehabilitation.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support of the Joanna Toole Foundation, which has made this project possible,” said Alan Knight OBE, Chairman at BDMLR. “The collaboration with Robson & Prescott Vets not only strengthens our rescue capabilities but also demonstrates our commitment to the welfare of marine mammals in Northumberland.” BDMLR extends heartfelt thanks to it’s volunteer Marine Mammal Medics who will oversee the project, Robson & Prescott Vets, and the local community for their continued dedication to marine conservation. Together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of these vulnerable seal pups.
