Yesterday our medics were called out to East Runton in Norfolk to a live stranded harbour porpoise. The porpoise was in good condition with no obvious injuries and just over 1m in length so after a full assessment, the decision was made to refloat the animal even though the conditions were challenging.
After supporting the porpoise in the water for a while, to help bring its breathing rate down, the porpoise swam off strongly and was not seen again.
Well done and thank you to our medics and also the coastguards who assisted with the rescue!
