Louise Round, BDMLR Assistant Area Coordinator for the Devon region has been awarded a prestigious Outstanding Contribution to Marine Mammal Rescue Award by BDMLR’s Trustees. Louise was presented with the award by BDMLR Director and Trustee and Gavin Parsons.
“Louise seems to be everywhere. Whenever I arrive for a BDMLR rescue or at the seal unit, or even a seal release, she is there.” said Gavin. “She regularly travels from her home in Devon to put in shifts at the BDMLR Cornwall Seal Hospital and attends training courses and rescues along the north Devon coast, not forgetting her fundraising efforts. She is always smiling and happy and it’s this dedication to BDMLR and her amiable disposition which has earned her this award. It’s also not the only award she’s collected for BDMLR. She recently picked up a North Devon Voluntary Services Unsung Hero Award and has also just been appointed assistant coordinator for Devon.
Congratulations to Louise and thank you for all your hard work.
The Outstanding Contribution to Marine Mammal Rescue Awards (or Trustees Awards for short) are chosen by BDMLR Trustees Alan Knight, Mark Stevens, Geoff Hammock, Faye Archell and Gavin Parsons and presented to Medics who have gone above and beyond for the charity and demonstrated a dedication to helping the marine environment in a positive way.
This year there are 10 awards, however, due to the nature of the charity and the number and spread of directors and trustees not everyone will be presented at the same time, so over the coming weeks you will see who has received an award.
