You may remember a short while ago we were asking for donations towards a new, state-of-the-art seal pup teaching model known as the ‘Pinnifred’. We are absolutely thrilled to announce that the necessary funds have now been raised to allow the purchase of this innovative and unique training tool which will predominantly be used by vets and veterinary nurses across the country. With the model they will be able to practice important clinical skills such as the placement of breathing tubes for anaesthetics and taking blood samples- helping to ensure sick and injured seal pups get the highest quality of care.
We would like to say an enormous thank you to everyone who contributed to the fundraising efforts on our Crowdfunder page- raising an amazing £910 in total!
A special thanks goes to one of our own Marine Mammal Medics and Registered Veterinary Nurse, Diane Westwood-Rowland, for raising £320 by completing a sponsored walk in her local area. An excellent effort!
Also, a big thank you to Safe4 Disinfectants (their products are regularly used by our medics to disinfect their kit) for their kind donation of £100.
And finally, we are extremely grateful to OceanCare for their very generous contribution of £3,534 which has brought us up to our target! They are a fantastic organisation committed to marine wildlife protection through research, conservation projects and involvement in various important international committees.
