Every year we run our Christmas Raffle to help with the huge costs we incur rescuing grey seal pups during the pupping season (our most expensive time of year!).
If you can offer a prize to help rescue the hundreds of pups needing our help, please email us at info@bdmlr.org.uk.
We’re looking for good quality prizes and it would save us incurring any further costs if you were able to send the prizes to the prize winners. Last years prizes included vouchers for boat trips and other days out, good quality books, speciality drinks (please bear in mind how much it will cost to post alcohol!), and paintings (amongst many others). We would need a picture of the prize to advertise it in our raffle and we would be delighted to tag you on our socials to promote your company.
Prizes you can offer will help grey seal pups like the tiny pup in the pictures that was found recently in Aberdeenshire. She was found with a very low temperature and only 10kg. Grey seal pups are born at around 13kg so this little one had lost weight since her birth. The following day (after plenty of rest, food and warmth) she was taken to the SSPCA National Wildlife Centre. Without our help, she might never have been rescued.
