Stornoway entangled seal

On Tuesday, 15 April, we were alerted to an entangled seal in Stornoway harbour by a passing cruise ship. Since then, our Medics in the Western Isles have been monitoring the seal at the harbour and the surrounding area.

Entanglements are becoming more prevalent in marine mammals, and rescues are incredibly challenging. We are asking members of the public who see the seal to let us know on 07531 910952 with images or footage. However, please make sure it is safe to do so and do not disturb the seal. Easily disturbed by the presence of humans, we recommend always staying at a distance of 100 metres away from any seal.
