Southend seal pup

A common seal pup was reported to BDMLR on 10 July at Southend-on-Sea Pier by the pier manager. After a medic check was conducted, the decision was made to pick the seal up as, at only 8.5kg, it was very underweight and only about a week old. The seal was rescued and relayed to RSPCA – Mallydams Wood where it will now get looked after until ready for release.

Thank you to the medics who were involved in the rescue and relay and also the members of public and staff at Southend Pier.
