On Sunday 12 November BDMLR Medics responded to a call from the west coast of the Isle of Skye. A grey seal pup had made its way up the beach and was resting on a grassy bank below a campsite. Medics arrived to find a very small and dehydrated pup, no more than 13kg in weight, but not injured and quite alert.
Due to its body condition the pup was taken to the vets in Portree for an assessment and rehydration fluids, and to be kept safe over night. The following day the pup started on its long journey to rehab, travelling over to Inverness and then up to the Caithness Seal Rescue & Rehab centre. The seal pup had a short rest at Inverness for some more fluids, essential for such a small pup, and was given the all clear to continue to Thurso.
