Last week, on Monday 9th March, BDMLR medics attended our third entangled seal in 4 days. The seal pup was reported at Newburgh beach in Aberdeenshire. Fortunately on arrival, our medics found that the monofilament netting had not broken the blubber and therefore our medics caught the entanglement in the early stages.
After a thorough check over, the netting was removed and the seal was released back to the water. 🌊
Entanglement on animals is a serious problem so please help us spread awareness of these incidents so that hopefully this situation will be less likely to occur in the future.
Again, fantastic efforts by our medics Stacey, Monika, Lauren and Lee 👏
